Funeral services for Charles Alan Mathis, 24, who died early Friday in a Boston, Massachusetts hospital will be at 2 PM Tuesday in the Central Christian Church.
The body will lie in state at the family home, 1516 W. Maine, all day Monday.
The Rev. Lloyd H. Lambert will officiate and burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of the Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home.
Mathis was born in Enid June 30, 1948 and graduated from Enid high in 1966. He was an Eagle Scout and recipient of the God and Country Award, the two highest awards granted to scouts, and was a member of the Order of the Arrow.
Mathis attended Phillips University and graduated in 1971 from the University of Oklahoma School of Architecture. He was associated with a Norman architectural firm before returning to Enid where he was employed by Day and Davies, architects.
He was an active member of the Central Christian Church and was a volunteer one night each week at the Phillips University Library.
Mathis had entered a Cambridge, Massachusetts cancer clinic November 1 and died in the Boston hospital following treatment for cancer.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Kenneth E. (Virginia Young) Mathis of the home at 1516 W. Maine; two sisters, Mrs. Don (Virginia) Hiebert of Tonkawa and Nancy Mathis of the home; a brother, Kenneth E. Mathis Junior, Oklahoma City; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Charles A. (Cora Hutchinson) Young of Oklahoma City.
His father Kenneth was associated with the Champlin Refinery for 20 years before his death in 1955.
