Funeral rites for Mrs. George (Alva) Mallender, 79, 601 W. Poplar, will be at 10 AM Wednesday in the Henninger – Allen Funeral home Chapel with Dr. Charles R. Wade, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. She will be buried in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Mallender was born February 9, 1896, at Hunter and died Monday morning, November 17, 1975, in a local hospital after a long illness.

She and George Mallender were married on August 16, 1915, at Hunter and they moved to Enid in 1924. He died November 25, 1970. She was also predeceased by a brother and two sisters.

Mrs. Mallender was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Wes (Reba) Bonnett of Enid; two grandchildren; two great – grandsons; six sisters, Mrs. Beulah Whitmore, Hunter, Mrs. Faye Fox of San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. Sue Holmes of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Mrs. Earl (Inez) Simpson, Mrs. Syble Stuart and Mrs. B. D. (Jane) Alexander, all of Enid.

George A. Mallender, 76, 601 W. Poplar, died suddenly and unexpectedly at his daughter's home while working Wednesday morning, November 25, 1970.

He was born in Collinsville, Illinois, May 10, 1894 where he attended school.

Mallender came to Oklahoma when he was 18, living first at Hunter. He married the former Alva Brower and moved to Enid in 1925.

He worked for the Schuler Fruit Company until 1944 when he entered the grocery business in North Enid with Steddum's Grocery until he retired in 1968.

He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 10 AM at the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. T. P. Haskins and Rev. Jerry W. Perryman officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Alva, of the home; a daughter, Reba Steddum, Enid; a brother, Walter Mallender, Grand Junction, Colorado; two granddaughters and a great – grandson. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
