June 22, 1895 - October 16, 1974

Earl S. Mackie, 79, 633 E. Maine, died in a local nursing home Wednesday, October 16, 1974, following a period of ill health. Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Kenneth Wade and Rev. A. Meitler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Mackie was born in Hardy, Nebraska, on June 22, 1895. He was raised in Nebraska and came to Enid from Lincoln in 1935, living here since that time. He married Esther Gall on June 17, 1917. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of American Legion and St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He worked at Weibel Dairy and later Cowie Electric Company (now Central Automotive).

Survivors include his wife, Esther, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Jim (Norma Jean) Hodges, Covington; one son, Earl Leroy Mackie, Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren; and one brother, Elmer Mackie, Hastings, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Mae, in 1940, one sister and three brothers.

The casket will be in state at the church from noon Saturday until service time.
