A Memorial Service for Nelda Ruth (Wright) Melton, age 90, of Enid, will be 4:00 pm, Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Graceway Baptist Church, Enid, Oklahoma.
Nelda Ruth Wright was born September 11, 1934, in Deport, Texas, to Martha and Lawrence Wright, and passed away Monday, October 21, 2024 in Enid. She was the second daughter of four daughters, Martha, Laurie, and Judy. Nelda grew up in Paris, Texas, where she graduated from high school. At the age of 17, she left home to attend Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. There she worked her way through school first in a factory and then as secretary of the Baptist Bible Fellowship Missions Office. She married Bruce Melton in 1958, and became a homemaker and minister's wife. They were married for 59 years. Together they had four daughters over the span of 14 years, living in Missouri, Colorado, Michigan, and California, before retiring to Enid, Oklahoma. Bruce, all three of her sisters, and one grandson, Aaron, precede her in death. She is survived by daughters, Julie, Jennie, Joy, and Mandie, and grandchildren Lauren, Kyle, Molly, and Gray.
