OBITUARY
Funeral services for William G. Lauppe will be at the Zion Lutheran Church, Lahoma, Saturday, June 24, 2006, at 2 p.m. Pastor Eric Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
He was born Oct. 11, 1922, in Enid to William F. and Anna L. (Peters) Lauppe and died June 20, 2006, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 9 days.
As an infant and through Holy Baptism the Holy Spirit gave him faith in Christ on the day of his Confirmation into St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Enid, in 1936 and he has kept the faith until his death.
“Bill” was actively serving the Lord’s service in various offices in the church, which included teaching Sunday school, singing in the church choir, junior youth counselor, and 35 years as an elder for the congregation. He served his country in World War II in the Air Force in the European Theater of Operation as Radio gunner on a B-26 Martin Marauder. He was a S/Sgt and served in the 397th Bomber Group, 599th Bomb Squadron. At the end of the war he was assigned to a B-17 Bomber, which was taking aerial pictures of North Africa. During his service he received education at Pasadena Junior College in California and attended Pomona College in Claremont, CA. He was separated from active duty in March of 1946 and then served in the Air Force Reserve until March of 1949.
William married Lois Grefe on May 14, 1948, and that year he graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in agronomy, majoring in field crops. They then moved to their home in rural Lahoma where he farmed until his retirement.
He leaves to mourn his wife Lois of the home; daughter, Catherine and her husband Gene Breitenkamp of Fairmont; son, Dean and his wife Jo Lauppe of Pasadena, TX, and son Darrell and wife Sandy Lauppe of Alabaster, AL; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Barbara Kellert and Irene Dautenhahn.
