Adams, 88, who died Tuesday evening in a local nursing home after a period of ill health, will be at 10 AM Saturday in the Chapel of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The Rev Bobby Dale Whitlock, minister of Saint Luke's United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Adams was born November 24, 1896, in Lipan, Texas, to W. E. and Julie Gilkerson. She graduated from Higgins high school and on February 6, 1918, married Tom Hamilton in Woodward. He died in 1961. On June 9, 1965, she married U. S. Adams. He died in 1978. She had been a longtime resident of Garber and Enid. Survivors include a daughter, Norma Jenson Bunnell, Orem, Utah; a sister, Dela Tretz, Amarillo, Texas; seven grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Besides her husbands, Tom and U. S., She was preceded in death by a daughter. |
© Barnes Friederich Funeral Home Midwest City, Oklahoma July 2009 May 21, 1915 ~ July 16, 2009 Josephine Hamilton, a resident of Midwest City for more than 40 years, died July 16 at age 94. A native of Stratford, OK, she also was raised in Checotah and Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School. She won the Miss Clear Lake pageant in Cushing. Josephine married the love of her life, A. Burt Hamilton, on April 3, 1936 in Enid, and they toured the world together during his Air Force career, living in Japan, Illinois, New York and California, among other places. They were together 62 years before his death in 1998. She was a deeply spiritual woman who had a love of gardening. She was a recipient of the Midwest City Garden Club's Yard of the Month award. Josephine lived her final 1.5 years at Bradford Village in Edmond, where her rose-shaded glasses and ever-present smile earned her the nickname Miss Hollywood. She also was named Bradford's first Prom Queen in spring 2008. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mikee and Phil Neill of Seminole; her son and daughter-in-law, Arnold and Beverly Hamilton of Edmond; her grandchildren, Robyn Neill of Yukon, Andy Hamilton and wife Ashley of Iola, KS, and Matt Hamilton of Edmond; and great grandson, Maddox James Hamilton, of Iola, KS. The family is extraordinarily grateful to Carter Hospice's staff and volunteers, the Bradford Village team, Dr Frank C. Davis and nurse Ramona. Services will be 10 am, Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home, Midwest City, OK with 2:30 pm burial at Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, OK. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. |
