Sherry Lyn Hawthorne
July 1, 1956 - January 12, 2025
A funeral service for Sherry Lyn Hawthorne, 68, will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Anderson-Burris Chapel with internment at Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following. Pastor Tom LeGrand is officiating the service.
Sherry was born on July 1, 1956, in Enid, Oklahoma, to John and Lauraetta (Worth) Stoner, and passed away on January 12, 2025, in Enid.
Sherry grew up in Garber, Oklahoma, where she graduated from Northern Oklahoma College. She spent over 25 years as a medical insurance receptionist, most recently at St. Mary's Hospital. During this time, she also fulfilled an early dream of building her own home on Veterans Drive in Garber, where she raised her two children.
On October 2, 1997, Sherry married David Hawthorne in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her time and energy to her family. Sherry's hobbies included sewing, crocheting, gardening, and painting ceramics, and she enjoyed inviting friends and family over for coffee and conversation. Above all, she cherished her family and the time spent with them. Her favorite phrase was, "come sit, let's have a coffee and visit."
Sherry is survived by her husband David, her children, Misty Penney and William "Cody" Sawyer; her brother, Russell Stoner and wife Rocki; her sister, Shelley Ludlow and husband Greg; and grandchildren Savannah, Riley, Adalyn, and Ava.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lauraetta Stoner, and her grandson, Jonathan Penney. Sherry will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her loving spirit will remain in the hearts of her family forever.
