The Graveside service celebrating and honoring the life of Wilma Jean Dowers, 85, of Edmond, formerly of Enid will be held at 2:00 P.M. November 21, 2019 in the Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Ron Olson officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
She was born February 25, 1934 to Everett and Alma Edmundson Harman in Enid, Oklahoma and passed from this life on November 18, 2019 in Edmond, Oklahoma.
She attended elementary school in Los Angeles, California. She then moved back to Enid, Oklahoma with her family where she attended Longfellow Junior High and Enid High School. She married Marvin John Dowers on April 14, 1962 in Enid, Oklahoma. She spent four years at Northwestern Christian College in Eugene, Oregon and then graduated from Phillip’s University with her Master’s in Education. She also attended one year of Graduate Seminary at Phillip’s. She worked as an elementary school teacher, serving in Los Angeles, California, Hillsdale, Oklahoma, and Enid, Oklahoma where she taught sixth grade at Taft Elementary for thirty-two years. She was a member of E.E.A., O.E.A., N.E.A., and a former member of Oakwood Christian Church where she taught Sunday School. Most of all she loved her family.
She is survived by her son Gary Dowers, and wife Grace, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, granddaughter, Briana Dowers, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and grandson Ezra Marvin Dowers
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin John Dowers and son, Kenneth Dowers.
