Funeral service for Dwight O. Dixon, 91, of Enid, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at Golden Oaks Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Lillie officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Army. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Dwight was born to John and Marcha (Buertelson) on March 4, 1923, in Harmon, Okla., and passed away on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, in Enid.

Dwight graduated from Stroud High School and attended Southwestern State University Art School in Chicago, and Tulsa University.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 27, 1943, and was discharged on Feb. 7, 1946. Dwight served during WWII in the Artillery division.

He was married on Dec. 31, 1976, to Mildred Francis Upton Robinson in Enid. They were members of First Baptist Church and he enjoyed playing his mandolin in Country Western Bands.

Dwight was a sign painter for the city of Enid for 40 years.

Dwight is survived by stepchildren, Mildred Upton Hager of Enid, Sam Upton of Houston, Texas, Loretta Spleth of Enid, and Rebekah Thompson of Marietta, Ga.; brothers, Floyd Dixon of Manchester, Okla., and Curtis Dixon of Oklahoma City; 20 grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; son, Everett J. Dixon; brother, Farrell Dixon; and parents.
