The funeral for Bruce S. Dittmeyer, 61, of Lawton will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at Trinity Assembly of God, Lawton. The Rev. Lloyd Grubbs will officiate. A private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid at a later date. Arrangements are by Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home, Lawton. He was born Dec. 23, 1946, in Enid to Gilbert and Elizabeth Francis Clarke Dittmeyer and died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, in Lawton.
He graduated from Enid High School in 1965, then began working for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company. He married Velma Gould in 1969. He joined the Army in 1969. He earned the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon-2, Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), rifle M-16 (Expert), National Defense Service Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendation. He was honorably discharged in 1983. He married Mimi Lee in 1980. He married Michele Dittmeyer in 1990. He worked at the post office as a letter carrier until retiring in 2005. He was a member of the DAV and the Letter Carrier Association.
Surviving are his companion, Michele A. Dittmeyer of the home; two sons, Daniel Dittmeyer of Colorado Springs, Colo. and David Dittmeyer of Geary; three daughters, Deanna Dittmeyer, Renee Martines, both of Lawton, and Dana Dittmeyer of El Reno; one brother, Loren Dittmeyer of Texas; five sisters, Ruth Reed of Choctaw, Mary Dittmeyer and Carol Perry, both of Enid, Carrie Larson of San Antonio, Texas and Janet French of Dallas, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one daughter and three brothers.
