Graveside service for Ralph W. Cornish will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2021, in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory.
Ralph W. Cornish, 85, of Sweet Home, Oregon, died May 9, 2021. He was born Feb. 6, 1936, in Holdenville, Okla., to Ralph Woodrow and Ruby Irene (Blackwell). Mr. Cornish moved to Sweet Home from Enid, Okla., after the death of his wife of 46 years, Joyce Ann (Sparks) Cornish. He worked and retired from the Enid Fire Department, beginning as a firefighter and advancing to the staff position as secretary. After retirement, Mr. Cornish worked for the Oklahoma Blood Institute.
Mr. Cornish attended Abundant Life Temple in Enid, where he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher and music director. He was a member of the Abundant Life Quartet and founder of the Enid Community Gospel Sing. He enjoyed singing with his guitar for and with people. He also enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
Mr. Cornish is survived by his children, Edward and daughter-in-law Cheryl Cornish of Green Bay, Wis., Rhonda Joyner of Sweet Home, and Jerry and daughter-in-law Donna Cornish of Mesquite, Texas; sister Leah Kay Jones of Knowles, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his spouse, Joyce Ann Cornish, in 2006; brother James Cornish; father Ralph Woodrow Cornish; mother Ruby Irene (Blackwell) Cornish; and grandson Joshua Phares in 2020.
