What caused fatal crash is mystery

Three persons injured in the two – car twin – fatality crash on North 30th early Sunday morning are reported to be in what was termed "satisfactory" condition today at Enid General Hospital.

Meanwhile, authorities from the District Attorney's Office and Oklahoma Highway Patrol have been unable to add to their knowledge of just what happened to cause the mishap.

Mrs. Beverly Anneler, 321 E. Cedar, was reported to be comfortable today following surgery Tuesday for a fractured leg. Barbara Coker, 501 W. Indiana, a passenger in the fatality car, was about the same awaiting surgery sometime later this week.

Ms. Coker suffered crushed legs.

The driver of the second car, Jerry Cook, 30, 210 N. Jefferson, was in "satisfactory" condition today after having surgery Monday for a fractured knee.

"We still don't know the particulars of where the second car came from," OHP trooper H. F. Summers said today. "We can't talk to the two women yet and Cook simply does not remember anything about it at all," he pointed out.

The mishap took the lives of Steven Eugene Stewart, 20, Route 5, and a passenger, Terry Ray Cleveland, 19, Woodlands.

The District Attorney's Office and OHP investigators are continuing their probe into the fatality mishap.
