Celebration of Life service for Jon Carter, 61, of Enid, Okla., is 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Ron Stone officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Jon passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015, at his home in Enid. Jon was born May 29, 1953, in Florala, Ala., to Chester Carter and Gretchen (Mitchell) Carter.

He moved to Crestview, Fla., and graduated from Laurel Hill High School.

In the beginning of Jon’s career in construction, he traveled extensively building churches, and for the last 26 years, he worked for Braums Ice Cream and Dairy as superintendent of construction.

Jon was an avid fisherman and loved spending time outdoors with his faithful companions, chocolate Labs Harley Bear and Tilly. He loved to have cookouts and enjoyed grilling with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Gretchen Carter.

Jon is survived by his wife, Ronda of the home in Enid; five children, Jason Carter of Crestview, Fla., Seth Smith and wife Brooke of Douglas, Okla., Lindsey Toner and husband Terry of Crestview, Fla., Suzanne Carter and fiancé Allen Cook of Oklahoma City, and Megan Kretchmar and husband Tyler of Medford, Okla.; two brothers, Mike Carter of Florida, and Richard Carter of Arkansas; four grandchildren; as well as other family and friends.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
