Memorial service for Beatrice E. Carl, 87-year-old Edmond resident, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Oklahoma City. The Rev. Randall Spindle will officiate. Burial will precede the service at Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, Okla., under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Beatrice was born in Simpson, Pa., on April 2, 1927, and died Friday, Dec. 5, 2014.

Following graduation from Scranton State Hospital Nursing, she worked at Cornell Medical Center in New York City. While there, she attended Hunter College and art classes at several museums. After two years, she joined the USAF and became a flight nurse. Upon completing her flight tour, she was sent on special assignment to care for the chief of staff for the USAF, Gen. Hoyt Vandenberg, at Walter Reed Army Hospital, during his terminal illness. At this time, she met many prominent visitors to the general including war-time colleague and commander, President and Mrs. Eisenhower.

Her next assignment was to the USAF Hospital in Wiesbaden, Germany, where she met and later married Dr. Barton Carl.

After his tour, they moved to Oklahoma City for the completion of his training, where they have lived for the last 55 years.

Bea worked at the VA Hospital and University Hospital. She loved to work and was later associated with Owen’s Art Gallery, the Cowboy Hall of Fame, Ruth Meyers Inc. and lastly, Stein Mart. She loved her jobs and the very many friends she made.

Other interests were sewing, embroidery, quilting, crossword puzzles, light gardening and reading. She especially liked physical exercise: walking, aerobics and playing tennis, which she did until she was 78. She enjoyed the Revidere Book Club and the Margharitas, a retired ladies tennis group.

She is survived by her husband, Barton of 56 years; two sons, Peter and wife Ginny and her children, Collin and Rachael, and John and wife Kathy, and their two sons, which she adored, Andrew and William; two sisters, Ruth Koop of San Jose, Calif., and Virginia Snedeker of Florida; as well as Penny, the chocolate Labrador rescue dog.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Westminster Presbyterian Church with Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home, 601 W. Broadway, Enid, Okla., acting as custodian of the funds.

October 20, 1929 - July 4, 2019

The memorial service for Dr. Roy Barton Carl, 89 year-old Oklahoma City resident will be 3:00PM Friday, July 12, 2019in the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City. Rev. Randall Spindel will officiate. There will be a burial preceding the memorial in Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid at10:00AM Friday, July 12, 2019. The Rev. Andrew Lonf officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral home.

Barton was born October 20, 1929 in Enid to Dr. Roy Carl and Amy Hinson Carl and died July 4, 2019 in Oklahoma City surrounded by his family. He attended local schools and graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1947. He attended Phillip's University obtaining a degree in Biology. During his time at Phillip's he worked at Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. He then attended Oklahoma Medical school and earned a M.D. and then to Duke University where he trained in Neurology and Medicine.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force in July of 1957 where he was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany at the USAF Hospital. This is where he met the love of his life, Bea Kukcinovich. They were married on May 5, 1958. They returned to Oklahoma City in 1959. He completed three more years of residency in neuro-surgery. On July 1, 1963 he joined the practice of Dr. Harry Wilkins and Dr. Jess Herrman where he practiced for over 21 years.

He was a long-time member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was an avid competitive rifle marksman. He was a long-time member of the NRA

He is survived by his sons; John Carl and wife Kathy and their children William and Andrew and Peter Carl and wife Ginny and their children Collin and Rachel. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Bea.

Memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson 601 W. Broadway Enid, OK. 73701 to the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
