July 30, 1927 - December 1, 2024

Doris Chapman left this world on December 1, 2024. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church on December 6 at 12 noon with Reverend Mark Mason celebrant. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with family will be held Thursday from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Anderson-Burris.

She was born July 30th, 1927 in Hays, Kansas to C. J. and Victoria Stressler Doerfler and moved at age 12 with her family to Enid. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy and attended Enid Business College.

Doris met Dale B Chapman at a Broom Dance on Halloween, 1946 and married him in December, 1947 at St. Francis Church, Enid. To this union were born four daughters: Connie, Mickey, Terri and Tami.

Doris and Dale owned and managed Chapman's Grocery Store for over 30 years. She later sold real estate and furniture in Enid, then worked at The Commons for 15 years until retiring at age 84.

Doris volunteered at St. Mary's Hospital and was a longtime member of St. Francis Church.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, a brother and three sisters. She is survived by her daughters Connie, Mickey, Terri and Tami, grandchildren Andrew and Kimeya, great-granddaughters Enid and Marley, sister Jeannie, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to Hospice Circle of Love or Our Daily Bread.
