The committal service for Ernest L. (Ernie) Allen, 76 year-old Enid resident will be at 1:00PM in Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, January 3, 2011. There will be a memorial service following at 2:00PM in the Henninger Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Grady Bohannon will officiate.
Ernie was born November 11, 1934 in Enid to Roy and Sadie(Coburn) Allen and died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in his home. He attended local schools and graduated with the class of 1953. On October 12, 1956 he married Deanna Dulick in Enid, where the couple made their home. He began his career in mechanics as a junior in high school, working for Pfrehm’s Automotive. He later worked for Buck Payne at P&W Garage. He later bought the business and owned and operated it for several years.
He was a life-long member of Pleasantvale Community Church. He enjoyed auto racing, hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife Deanna, of the home, his children; JoElla Coffey and husband Frank of Enid, Marvin Allen and wife Theresa of Enid, and Erin Denney and husband Randy of Enid. Seven grandchildren; Brandy, Amber, Hope, Chelsey, Tray, Kynna, and Kari. Six great-grandchildren; Tabor, Addison, Macy, Jordon, Brysen, and Jacob. Two sisters, Betty Collins and husband Bob of Danville, VA. And Donna Sodorff of Medical Lake, WA. One brother, Roy Allen Jr. and wife Cindy of Enid. Also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
