Funeral services for Helena Toews, age 95, of Enid, will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Enid Mennonite Brethren Church with the Rev. Lynford Becker and the Rev. Jay Risner officiating. Burial will follow in Enid Mennonite Brethren Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

She was born March 13, 1917, near Henderson, Neb., to George H. and Anna Rose Franz Janzen and passed away Oct. 23, 2012, in the Golden Oaks Nursing Center. She moved to the Kremlin area in the early 1920's, where she attended school. She attended Phillips University, where she received a Bachelor's degree and teaching certificate. Helena taught in several schools in the Enid area, including elementary grades at Carrier and at Kremlin, retiring in 1980 after 30 years of teaching

She married Bill Toews on Nov. 18, 1944, in Enid. They are members of the Enid Mennonite Brethren Church where she was active in the ladies chorus and quartet. She was a pianist and loved music. She was involved with the family farming activities. She loved cooking and baking bread and won numerous county fair awards
