Mennonite Brethren Cemetery


ENID, Okla. - Celebration of life memorial service for Darryl Jay Toews, 60, of Enid, will be 11 a.m. today, Sept. 4, 2013, at Enid Mennonite Brethren Church, with Pastor Jay Risner officiating. A private family graveside service will precede the memorial service in the Enid Mennonite Brethren cemetery. Service is under the direction of Brown-Cummings.

Darryl was born March 3, 1953, to Joel and Anna Voth Toews in Enid and passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013, in Enid following a short, but brave fight with pancreatic cancer.

He graduated from Kremlin-Hillsdale High school in 1971. He attended Oklahoma State University, where he received a degree in aeronautical technology in 1975, and a degree in agricultural engineering in 1978.

He married Gaye Graves Dec. 27, 1980.

He worked at USDA-Soil Conservation Service as an agricultural engineer, at Halliburton as a field engineer, was a consultant in the oil and gas industry, and for Linn Energy as senior production engineer.

He was a member of Enid Mennonite Brethren Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna; son, Jesse Toews; and brother, Randall.

He is survived by his wife, Gaye; four sons, Mathew Toews and wife Lindsay, Samuel Toews and wife Katie, Caleb Toews and Joshua Toews; two grandsons, Walter and William; one granddaughter, Avery; brother, Douglas and wife Gwendolyn Gilbert; two sisters, Sandra and husband Richard Roberts, and Lori and husband Scott Dallavo; and six nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwest Oklahoma Fellowship of Christian Athletes or Kremlin-Hillsdale Academic Enrichment Foundation with Brown-Cummings funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
