Gerhard Rempel, 71, died Thursday evening following an illness of several months.
Services will be Monday at 2 PM in the Enid Mennonite Brethren Church with the Rev. Lynford J. Becker officiating. Burial will be in the North Mennonite Cemetery under the direction of the Henninger – Allen funeral home.
He was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska, and moved to Oklahoma in 1918, settling northeast of Enid. He married the former Amelia Harms October 22, 1918. They farmed in the Dalhart, Texas, area for several years before returning to the Kremlin – Enid area in 1932 where he had farmed since.
He was a member of the Enid Mennonite Brethren Church, Kremlin Co-Op and Oklahoma Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife, Amelia, of the home; six sisters, Mrs. Isaac (Sarah) Regier and Mrs. Orlando (Eva) Siebert, both of Enid, Mrs. J. B. (Helen) Barkman, north of Enid, Mrs. John (Katherine) Buller of Kremlin, Mrs. Elizabeth Buller of Dinuba, California, and Mrs. Julius (Martha) Penner of Wichita, Kansas; one brother Jacob J. Rempel of Enid.
A Memorial fund has been established at the church, with the church and Henninger – Allen acting as custodians.
