Mennonite Brethren Cemetery


Funeral services for Sara (Regier) Hayen, 77, 569 N. Malone, who died suddenly Wednesday evening, will be at 2 PM Sunday in the Enid Mennonite Brethren Church with pastor Ken D. Janzen, and the Rev. D. J. Gerbrandt officiating. Burial will be in the more North Mennonite Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hayen was born December 3, 1903, near Moundridge, Kansas, the daughter of George and Maria Friesen Vogt. In 1910, the family moved to Enid, to a farm north of town. Mrs. Hayen was a longtime member of the Mennonite Brethren Church.

On March 8, 1931, she and Pete Regier were married in Enid. Her husband died February 24, 1953.

On February 16, 1957, she and Ora L. Hayen were married. They made their home at 569 N. Malone. Hayen died January 16, 1965.

Mrs. Hayen was a Sunday school teacher and taught in the church's vacation Bible school. She was also a member of the Sunshine Circle and served in various offices. Mrs. Hayen had been employed by St. Mary's Hospital and the General Hospital and in later life was employed by Mrs. Oven.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bernard (Alberta) Flaming, Ponca City and Mrs. Gary (Lillie Ann) Foster, Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren; one great – grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. A. L. (Marie) Green, Enid, Mrs. Henry (Martha) Janzen, Hutchinson, Kansas, and Mrs. Jack (Eva) Rogers, Wasco, California; three brothers, Cornelius Vogt and Albert Vogt, both of Enid and Dave Vogt, Van Nuys, California. Three other sisters and a brother preceded her in death.

Those who wish may contribute to the Oklahoma Michael Research Foundation Heart or Cancer Fund in her memory. Henninger-Allen will serve as custodian of the Memorial fund.
