Ralph E. Atkinson, 68, 1122 N. Adams, died Tuesday in an Enid hospital.
He was born February 8, 1906 in Ardmore. He attended grade school in Kremlin and the old Kenwood school in Enid. He graduated from Enid High School where he played basketball and football. He also played one year at Phillips University.
He married the former Harriett Duggan July 14, 1927. He was service manager for Dirksen – Jones Buick until he retired in 1971. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Central United Methodist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Herriett, of the home; eight sons, Jim, Jerry and Robert all of Enid, Jack, Elk city, Ralph, Tulsa, Don, Drummond, E. Bruce, Shreveport, Louisiana, and Richard, San Bernardino, California; two step – sisters, Mrs. Claude Nelson, Enid, and Mrs. H. W. Weinman, Tacoma, Washington; four step-brothers, Ivan, Joe and Clarence Wheeler, all of Enid and Bill Wheeler, Oklahoma City; 29 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 AM in the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel. His son, Rev. Jack Atkinson will officiate assisted by Rev. Larry J. King. Burial will be in the Kremlin Cemetery under the direction of Henninger – Allen. The family has requested that those who wish may make contributions to muscular dystrophy. The funeral home will act as custodian of the fund.

Funeral services for Mrs. Herriett Mae Atkinson, 65, who died Monday, will be at 2:30 PM Thursday in the Chapel of the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home. The Rev. Larry J. King will officiate and burial will be in the Kremlin Cemetery.
The family has suggested that those who wish make contribution in Mrs. Atkinson's memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Fund, with Henninger – Allen serving as custodian of gifts.
Mrs. Atkinson was born December 29, 1908, in Kingfisher and was married to Ralph E. Atkinson on August 14, 1928. He died on September 16 of this year. She was also predeceased by a brother, Leonard Duggan.
Mrs. Atkinson was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and a former member of the Pythian Sisters and the American Business Women's Club.
She had worked at Learner's Ready – To – Wear and Trade – Mart during recent years.
Mrs. Atkinson is survived by eight sons, Jim, Jerry and Bob of Enid, Bruce of Shreveport, Louisiana, Jack of Elk City, Leonard of Tulsa, Don of Drummond and Richard, San Bernardino, California.
