A Celebration of Life service for Robert "Bob" Neil Dennis, age 78, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017, at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel, with Dr. Robert Courtney officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsdale Cemetery under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Bob was born June 5, 1938, in Sterling, Colorado, to Fred and Agnes Linn Dennis and passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, in Integris Bass Baptist Health Center. Bob lived in Parsons, KS, and at a young age moved to Enid, where he attended and graduated from Enid High in 1956. Bob attended Northwestern University, where he received his Bachelor and Master degrees. He married Joy Roy on April 16, 1965, in Hillsdale, OK. He taught in Kansas for 10 years and moved to Enid, in 1970, where he taught at Longfellow Junior High, retiring in 1993 after 23 years. Bob was a member of Oakwood Christian Church and later Hillsdale Bible Church, where he was very active.
He is survived by his wife, Joy, of the home; daughter Lea Ann Van Meter and husband Sean of Enid; son Tim Dennis of Helena; 5 grandchildren, Sarah and Conner Dennis, Chloe, Callie, and Camree Van Meter; 3 brothers Roy and wife Patty Dennis and Don and Cheryl Dennis, all of Enid, and Fred Dennis of Denver, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tom.
Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Memorials may be made to OMRF-Alzheimer Division or Hillsdale Bible Church, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of funds.
