March 26, 1945 - April 11, 2023
A Celebration of Life for Richard Lee Gray, age 78 of Kremlin, OK., is 10 a.m., April 17, 2023 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Enid with Pastors Wade Burleson and Shonn Keels of Enid officiating. Burial will follow at Hillsdale Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the funeral home. The service will be live streamed at emmanuelenid.online.church.
Richard Lee Gray was born March 26, 1945 to Robert "Bob" Gray and Refa Gray at Enid in Garfield County, Oklahoma. He passed away on April 11, 2023 in Enid.
Richard grew up in the Kremlin, Oklahoma area. A graduate of Kremlin High School, he attended Phillips University, and on May 7, 1965 married Lois Jane Biggs. Richard had been a long-time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Enid and Hillsdale Bible Church before that. His church involvement included decades of teaching Sunday School, serving as a deacon and he was part of many mission trips to Niger in West Africa, assisting with water well drilling and agriculture consulting. At Emmanuel, he taught the "1st Home" church for several years as well as other classes. Richard was also active in Bible study groups and a reader of faith-based and history-oriented materials. He and Lois are longtime supporters of Emmanuel Church, Search Ministries and other Christian outreach efforts. Professionally, he was a successful farmer and rancher with primarily a wheat and cattle operation spanning both northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas. He also founded and operated a saltwater and mud disposal. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Richard was preceded in death by: his parents Bob and Refa Gray and his father-law Roy W. and mother-in-law Ruth Biggs of Hillsdale.
Richard is survived by his wife Lois of Kremlin; one daughter Teri Painter and husband Bryan of Edmond; one son Rusty Gray of Enid; a brother Robert Dale Gray and wife Linda of Kremlin; two sisters, Ruth Ann Rivette and husband Zach of Fort Collins, Colo., and Rita Kay Woolf and husband David of Owasso, Okla.; a sister-in-law Nancy Hayes and husband Dale, of Kremlin; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are: Cody Painter, Taylor Gray, Trent Gray, Kyle Short, Brian Hayes, Monty Hayes and Wes Hayes.
Memorials in Richard's name may be made to Hillsdale Christian School, Emmanuel Baptist Church, Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation- Alzheimer's Research, or Hospice Circle of Love through Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
