Hayward Cemetery



The funeral services for Pearl Estella Cronister, 88 year-old Hayward resident, will be 10 a.m. Saturday March 17, 2012, in the Lucien Methodist Church. Pastor Ruth Arterberry will officiate. Burial will follow in Hayward Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Pearl was born May 14, 1923, in Oklahoma City and died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, in her home surrounded by her family. On Sept. 10, 1947. she married Junior Nelson Cronister in Enid, where the couple made their home. They moved to Hayward in 1965, In addition to raising eight children, she took in ironing and babysat for neighbors.

She attended the Lucien Methodist Church, was a member of the Hayward Sunshine Club and also the Salvation Army. She enjoyed fishing, reading, making baked goods, but mostly spending time with her family.

She is survived by her 6 children; Ray Dean Bartel, of Enid, Katherine Cronister, of Covington, Barbara Johnson and husband David, of Covington, Pamela Bigbey, of Enid, Gail Poplin, of Enid, and Debra Bell also of Enid. 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. One brother, Patrick Cordell and wife Virginia, of Jay, Okla. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Junior, her two sons, Nelson and Richard, two grandchildren, Tony Cronister and Amanda Bigbey. One great-grandchild, Mykyla Choate, and one son-in-law, James D. Poplin, and 3 brothers and two sisters.
