Crescent – The funeral for S. H. "Bill" Voskuhl, 88, will be 2 PM Thursday in First Baptist Church. The Rev. Roger Pitt and Ed Vokuhl will officiate. Burial will be in North IO0F Cemetery at Marshall. Arrangements are by Abernathy Funeral Home.

He was born March 23, 1914, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to John and Maude Hickman Voskuhl and died Monday, March 25, 2002, at Crescent.

On June 22, 1935, he married Lucille Hawkins at Perry. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Crescent, Optimist Club and Logan County Farm Bureau. He was a former Councilman and mayor of Humasville, Missouri.

Surviving are his wife, Lucille of the home; one daughter, Phyllis Silvers of Mulhall; three sons, George of Crescent, William of Hennessy and Edward of Leander, Texas; one sister, Gertrude Harrison of Pawhuska; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and a half sister.

Memorials may be made to the church.

A celebration of the life of Lucille Voskuhl, 97, was held Mon., Dec. 7, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Crescent. Pastors Rick Cato and Ed Voskuhl officiated. Burial follow in the North Marshall Lions Cemetery in Marshall, Okla.

Lucille was born Oct. 12, 1918 in Marshall to George W. and Ethel E. (Looman) Hawkins and passed away Dec. 3, 2015 in Guthrie.

She attended school in Marshall and in Sept. of 1934 she met her future husband S.H. “Bill” Voskhul. They were married June 22, 1935 in Perry and had 66 years together before he passed in 2002.

There were three sons and one daughter born to this union: George Voskuhl and wife Sandra of Crescent, Phylis Silvers and husband Glenn of MulHall, Bill Voskuhl and wife Mary of Hennessey, and Ed Voskuhl and wife Reba of Marble Falls, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.

In 1958 they moved to Missouri where they farmed and had a dairy. They returned to Marshall in 1969. In 1975 they moved back to Missouri then back to Crescent in 1986. Lucille was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Crescent, serving as pianist, choir member, UMW, and helped with church dinners. At age 96 she was still making jelly and canning from her garden. She usually had a pumpkin roll in the freezer if you were hungry. She was a wonderful lady who could always find the good in everyone. She was a wonderful and much loved Christian mother and grandmother.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one grandson, one great-grandson, and one great great-grandson.

Memorial may be made to the Crescent First United Methodist Church or the Frontier Country Museum with Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home acting as custodian.
