Hennessy – The funeral for Ernest J Vaverka, 53, who died Thursday at his home East of Hennessy, will be at 10 AM Saturday at Union Chapel Church, East of Hennessy. The Rev. Joseph L. Stubbs will officiate. Burial will be in North 00F Cemetery at Marshall under the direction of Cordry and Son Funeral Home, Hennessy.

He was born December 4, 1937, east of Hennessy to John and Antonia Vaverka. He graduated from Hennessy High School. He served with the U. S. Marine Corps from 1955 to 1960, then returned to the farm. On October 27, 1961, he married Shirley Bocox in Enid. They returned in May from Japan, where they had spent three years in the Department of Defense School System.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Kelley Thomas of Midwest City; two sisters, Delores Vaverka of Hennessy and Irene Boucher of San Antonio, Texas; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
