Funeral services for Cordia G. Mattocks, 74, who died at his home southeast of Covington, were held Sunday, January 6, at 2 PM in the Pleasant Hill church southeast of Covington. Rev. Wallace Linton of Enid officiated. The burial took place in the I00F Cemetery. A mound of floral tributes and many sorrowing friends attended the last rites.
Mr. Mattocks death was attributed to a heart attack. He was the son of James and Janie Mattocks, and was born near Sedan, Kansas, January 29, 1882. He was united in marriage to Louellen Ray, September 11, 1905. He became a member of the Christian Union Church near Hennessey in 1913. After moving to Orlando in 1915 he placed his membership in the Pleasant Hill Church.
Mr. Mattocks farmed and for more than 42 years practiced as a veterinarian throughout Garfield County. His personality, kindness and sincerity won him many friends throughout the years.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Ola, of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Pryor, Bartlesville, and Mrs. Lou Belle Giger, Watonga, two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Harrian, Enid, and Mrs. Iola Simmons, Lamar, Colorado, and seven grandchildren. A son, Cecil Mattocks, preceded him in death.
