MARSHALL — Funeral for Luella Grassman , 93, of Marshall, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ officiated by Pastor Dan Thimell. Burial will follow in Marshall Lions Cemetery North under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey.
Luella was born Sept. 2, 1917, in Marshall to George and Gertrude Van Hauen Weber and died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Franciscan Villa in Broken Arrow.
Luella graduated from Marshall High School. She was baptized, confirmed and a lifetime member of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church of Marshall (United Church of Christ). She was organist at the church for many years.
Luella married Alden Grassman July 25, 1936, in Marshall. She and Alden worked together on their farms for 44 years prior to his death. She was truly a country woman, a farmer's wife and a loving mother.
She is survived by two daughters, Carole Matheson and husband Max of Tulsa, and Janie Castator and husband Sam of Beggs; one sister, Norma Vogel of Marshall; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two nieces, one nephew and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Luella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and one nephew.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Marshall Lions Cemetery with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
