Roberta Ruth DeBoard
September 5, 1926 - December 16, 2011
Roberta (Bertie) Ruth Beeby DeBoard went to be with the Lord on December 16, 2011. One of seven children, Roberta was born on September 5, 1926 in Marshall, OK to Dora Anna Best Beeby and Lester Beeby. She met her husband, Norman Dwain DeBoard, in Covington at the Rogers' grocery store where she worked. Shortly after they were married on March 6, 1946, they moved to California and then returned to Marshall to run Beeby Oil, the family business. For many years in Marshall, Roberta managed the tag agency, which was housed in Norman's welding shop. As a devoted mother and a wife of 58 years of a blessed marriage, Roberta was always by her husband's side, supporting the family business and cherishing time with family and friends. Her faith and relationship with the Lord was always at the center of her life. Roberta was always involved in her community. She participated in the Home Demonstration Club, The Prairie City Days, Marshall Alumni Association, Palettes Paint Club, and served as an election official.
They have a loving and caring son, Michael Dwain DeBoard of Enid, who treasures his parents. Mike was at her side and dedicated to her care after his father passed in 2004. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents; brothers Cecil Beeby, Clyde Beeby and George Beeby; sisters Berniece Beeby Rogers, Wanda Beeby Correll and Jessie Faye Beeby. She is survived by her loving son Mike; granddaughter Rae Anna Means and husband John of Enid; brother-in-law Robert DeBoard and wife Evelyn of Allen, TX; sisters-in-law Betty Beeby of Marshall, Virginia Braley of Casper, WY and Jo Ann Touchstone of Abilene, TX; and many adoring nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the First Christian Church in Marshall on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M., and burial will be at the Marshall Cemetery.
