William "Bill" Morse Cox

November 22, 1925 - January 9, 2007

William Morse “Bill” Cox, 81, died January 9, 2007 in Enid, Oklahoma. He was born November 22, 1925 in Crescent to Charles and Ethel (Shafer) Cox. On July 30, 1952 he married Mary Louise Mayberry in Wichita Falls, Texas, she preceded him in death in 1990. Bill worked for ARCO Gas Company as a plant operator until his retirement in 1985, he then worked at the Marshall Senior Citizens Center for many years and served as the Sexton for the Marshall North and South Cemeteries. He loved to hunt, fish and camp. One of his favorite hobbies was to wait on the Purple Martins each year. He was also very proud of his granddaughters and their families. Bill was a proud member of the Marshall Odd Fellows and Crescent American Legion Post #200, as well as a Veteran of WWII, were he served in the U.S. Navy.

Bill is survived by one daughter Brenda Sue Davis and husband Dillon of Marshall, one son Michael Cox of Alabama, one brother Charles Cox, Jr., 6 grandchildren Jennifer Fisher, Monica Williams, Brooke Davis, Christian Cox, Olivia Cox and Tai Cox, two great grandchildren Trent and Stone Fisher. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, five brothers, three sisters, two great grandchildren Clay and Carlee Williams and by a Longtime Companion Thelma Phelan.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 12, 2007 at the Marshall First Christian Church with Pastor Keith Gordon officiating, burial will follow at the North Marshall Lions Cemetery. Memorial can be made to the Marshall Senior Citizens Center or to the Crescent American Legion Post #200.
