Michael D. WORTHEY

Garber Cemetery

Michael Dean Worthey died 20 August 2011, in Enid, Okla., at the age of 54. He was born on 7 June 1957, in Kansas City, Mo., to Harrell James Worthey and Juanita (Street) Worthey. "Mikey" spent his early years in the Kansas City area and moved with his family to Trenton, Mo., where he remained during his junior and high school years. After high school, Mike moved around and tried his hand in the oil fields, worked as a carpenter, joined the Army and became a crew chief on a Huey helicopter. He then returned to the oil field industry. He was employed by NCRA Refinery in McPherson, Kan., as a senior purchasing agent. While working here in Oklahoma, he met and married the love of his life, Mrs. Diane Meier Worthey of Enid, Okla. They were married July 3, 1994, at Pioneer Cove Marina. Mike and Diane established their home in Kaw City, Okla., which was his permanent residence until his death.
Mike had many passions in life. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson with Diane alongside on hers. He enjoyed the outdoors, he was forever working on projects and had to stay busy. He loved water sports and spent many hours on Kaw Lake with family and friends. But above all, he loved his family and friends. He was always ready to help whenever and wherever he was needed, whether it was building something, removing debris, or just a big hug, a smile and kind words to make you feel better. He had a big heart and helped anyone when needed. His largest passion, however, was best friend and wife, Diane, for they are truly soul mates. They did everything together, worked, played and traveled. He enjoyed their annual ship cruises to many exotic locations. Michael Dean Worthey was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harrell and Juanita Worthey; stepfather, James Martin; his grandparents; and his beloved dog "Mandy."
He is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Diane Meier Worthey of Kaw City, Okla.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elroy and Ellen Jean Meier of Garber, Okla.; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Janice Worthey of Houma, La.; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Patricia Worthey of Houma, La.; stepbrother and sister-in-law, Mike and Betsy Martin of Kansas City, Mo.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dennis and Darla Meier of Garber, Okla.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dan and Shannon Meier of Fort Bridger, Wyo.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Denise and Ron Mortiz of Enid Okla.; many nieces and nephews, which he was a second dad to; and his God daughter, Jessica Rodrigue. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Garber, Okla., with Rev. Kenneth Wade officiating. Burial will follow in Garber Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. (Submitted by family)
