Funeral Services for Michael “Mike” Simmering, 66, of Garber, will be Monday, February 15, 2016, 2:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Garber, OK with Rev. Scott Ray officiating. The interment will follow in the Garber Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 to 4 PM. Mike passed away February 12, 2016.
Michael was born October 16, 1949 in Enid, OK the son of Ira and Norma Jean Eby Simmering. He was a graduate of Garber High School in 1967. Mike was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam Conflict and served as an aide to the White House. Michael was united in marriage to Kathy Roth. He later married Susan Moore who preceded him in death January 31, 2009. He was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic and also farmed in the Garber area. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served as an elder and trustee. He enjoyed singing, playing guitar, hunting and fishing. He will be remembered as ornery, generous and a friend to all.
Survivors include three daughters, Tina Wedel of Enid, Amy Rice and her husband John of Toronto, Ohio and Tisha Bateman and her husband Shawn of Enid, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters, Joyce VonDielingen and her husband David of Garber and Lynda Willhelm of Decatur, TX, other family and a host of friends. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
