ENID - Vada J. Pruitt passed peacefully on April 20, 2010 in Enid, Oklahoma, and was surrounded by her great friends and family.
She was born near St. Louis, Oklahoma, on September 20, 1927. From there her family moved to Texas, where she attended Gainesville schools. She later moved with her family to the Garber Covington Sinclair oilfield in 1946. She married Hulen H. "Tobe" Pruitt on August 29, 1947. She was a registered Dietician as well as a loving housewife and mother. She enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with good friends.
Vada was blessed with a wonderful and large family. She is survived by brother Jack Wade of Midwest City, sister Lee Henke of Copan and husband Gale, son Larry Pruitt of OKC, son Randy Pruitt of Edmond and wife Kathy, daughter Gloria Powell of Garber and husband Keith, daughter Glenda Sutton of Edmond and husband Lyle, daughter Melinda Cordero of Wills Point , Texas, and husband John, step daughters Peggy Milburn of Countyline and Pat Hixson of Shallowater, Texas and husband Eldon, 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hulen H. "Tobe" Pruitt in 1994, her parents Abner and Atholee Wade, and brother Abner Wade. Funeral services in celebration of her life will be held at the United Methodist Church in Garber, OK at 2 p.m. on Monday April 26, 2010. Burial will follow at the Garber Cemetery .
Visitation will be 9am-8pm Saturday, April 24, 2010 and 1pm-6 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to her favorite charity "The Ellis Foundation," which provides college scholarships for deserving Garber High School graduates. Information can be found on the foundation's Web site: www.theellisfoundation.org.
