Died
Gillis Mayhew died shortly after 9 o'clock tonight, Thursday. He was stricken with paralysis Saturday, March 26th at Clay Center, Kans. He was traveling overland with his wife and son back to Nebraska after spending a couple of months here with his relations. Before breakfast he stated that he was not feeling well and then after breakfast he went out with the horses and a few minutes later was found unconscious. He never spoke another word or recognized any one. He was brought back here a week ago ___day by his brother, L.G., who went from here to Clay Center in answer to a telegram. He was an exceptionally strong and healthy man in his forties and was cut down in the prime of life.
His family, mother, brother and sisters have the sympathy of the neighborhood.
The funeral will be held at the M.E. church at 1 o'clock.

OBITUARY
Jiles S. Mayhew was born at Lawrence, Kans., November 20, 1866, and died at Garber, Okla., April 7th, 1910, at the age of 43 years, 4 months and 18 days.
He was baptized in the M.E. church in infancy. He was married to Miss Helen Luppy, February 19, 1893, to which union were born four children. Two died in infancy. Earl passed away at the age of eight years, and Valentine, who is with the wife and mother. Three brothers and two sisters are left to mourn his loss, Livingston, who resides in Garber, and 2 sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Garton of Beaver county, and Mrs. Martha Hills of Weir, Kans., were with him at the time of his death.
He was buried in the Garber Cemetery, Saturday April 9th. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church, Rev. Foster officiating.
