Frances B. (Granny) Leslie went to be with the Lord on March 19, 2006, in Enid, Oklahoma, she was 98. She was born September 27, 1907, in Sorento, Illinois, to John and Anna Kuntz Simmering.
Frances was two when her family moved to Garber, Oklahoma, where Frances attended the Garber Schools and lived the rest of her life.
Frances married Joe L. Leslie. They had three daughters. She worked in the Garber Public School Cafeteria, retiring after 27 years of service where she was famous for her cinnamon rolls. Her Christian way of life touched many people. She always had a smile for everyone. Frances loved music. She played the piano and harmonica by ear.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Garber. Her grandchildren knew her as “Granny,” and she was loved by them and the rest of her family.
Frances is survived by daughters, Delores A. Carpenter of Arp, Texas, Betty J. and husband Leo Taylor of Garber, Oklahoma, and Mary F. Kilpatrick of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; many grandchildren; great and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, seven brothers, and two sisters.
Services will be held at the First Assembly of God Church in Garber at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006, with Reverends Barry Prock and Jodie Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in the Garber Cemetery.
