ENID, Okla. — Lifetime Garber resident Clarence Fredrick Kroll, 90, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at his home in Garber, Okla., surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 21, 1923, on the family farm east of Garber, to Ernest and Minna (Goedeke) Kroll.
Clarence graduated from Garber High School in 1941. He was active in FFA in high school and was awarded the State and American Farmer degrees.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army from March 1946 to April 1947, where he was stationed in Japan.
Clarence married his high school sweetheart, the late Gay Wilson, on Feb. 4, 1945, and to this union, three children were born. His lifelong occupation was farming, ranching and raising show cattle.
Clarence was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as treasurer and was a member of Men’s Club. He also served on the board of directors of the Garber Co-op and was a member of the Garber Historical Society.
When he could get a break, he enjoyed fishing and attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed traveling with Gay to stock shows in Texas, where they had many champions and reserve champions through the years.
He is survived by his brother, Elmer Kroll of Garber; three children, Deanne and husband Ted Bentz of Breckinridge, Okla., Nicky Kroll and wife Georgianna of Garber, Okla., and Monty Kroll and wife Marilyn of Rockwall, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Derrick Bentz, Bethanie and husband Sam Seybold, Paula Powell, Jamie and husband Shelby Klusmeyer, Dusty Kroll, Brian Blaine and wife Windy, Brad Blaine and wife Toby, Candice Kroll, Josie Flowers and husband JD Darrow, and Jamie Flowers. Also, 13 great-grandchildren, Hayden and Houston Bentz, Payton Seybold, Austin, Zac and Jordan Powell, Tyler Miller, Jayden Klusmeyer, Macy, Ashlyn, and Devin Blaine and Melissa and Harley Flowers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Minna Kroll; wife, Gay; grandson, Cody Brent Kroll; and great-granddaughter, Rylea Jean Powell.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Scott Ray officiating. Interment will follow in Garber Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Garber EMS, Garber FFA, or the Immanuel Lutheran Church in care of Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th, Perry, OK 73077.
