A private family service for Roy L. "Chief" Goddard, 77, of Enid, will be held today, Jan. 13, 2009, in Garber Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
He married Marlee Gathercole following graduation and he played football at OU for one year. He returned to Enid to work for Sinclair Oil Co., Pillsbury Mills and also worked as an agent for Investors Life and Security General Insurance Companies. They also owned the Yesterday Showcase.
He was born Feb. 24, 1931, in Covington to William and Ida Goddard and died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009. He attended Sinclair and Covington schools, graduating in 1948.

Surviving are his wife, Marlee, of the home; children, William Goddard of Columbia, Mo., Roy Goddard Jr. of Edmond, Debra Buckminster and Lori Wacker, both of Enid; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
