Garber Cemetery


Mass of Christian burial for Leroy G. Doerfler will be celebrated at 12 noon Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Irwin as celebrant. Burial will be in Garber Cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary will be 6:30 p.m. today, Feb. 10, 2013, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home, with visitation to follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Leroy was born Feb. 3, 1932, to Constance and Victoria Stressler Doerfler in Hays, Kan., and passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, in Enid, Okla.

He moved to Enid at age 7 and attended grade school at a country school east of Enid. He attended St. Joseph Catholic High School, completing his junior year, and then moved to the Garber-Covington oil field, when his dad was transferred, and graduated from Covington High School in 1950. He attended Oklahoma A&M College for two years, then joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1956. After his military service, he was employed by Champlin Petroleum Co. for 24 years. After closing the Champlin Plant, he was then employed by Northrop Grumman for 16 years as a fire inspector with the fire department.

Leroy was a lifetime member of the VFW, Enid Moose Lodge and American Legion. He loved to hunt and fish and be outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Mitch and wife Angie and grandson Alex; son, Chris and wife Janna and grandson Cody; daughter, Vicki Doerfler, all of Colorado Springs, Colo.; stepchildren, Phillip, Stephen and Stephanie Semrad; stepgrandchildren, Megan Ellis, Daniel Semrad of Enid, Oliver and Simon Semrad of Katy, Texas; stepgreat-grandchildren, Jaryn and Jayce Ellis; sisters, Doris Chapman, Flora Kusch and Sherrie Bentz of Enid, and Wanda Avery of Oklahoma City; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Petie.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Connie Donaldson.
