Garber – Mrs. Henry (Helen J.) Deeds, 62, died Wednesday at her farm home north of Garber. Her funeral will will be at 10:30 AM Friday in the Garber Christian Church with the Rev. Nolan Pierce and Barbara Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Garber Cemetery, under the direction of Anderson – Reavis Funeral Home of Garber.
Mrs. Deeds was born in Kingfisher County December 9, 1924, to Rudolph and Josie Mesis Sebranek. She attended school in Garber and graduated from high school in 1943. Mrs. Deeds had spent most of her life in the Garber area.
She was married to Henry Deeds July 12, 1945, in Cherokee. She worked at Tinker Air for Force Base in Oklahoma City and at Vance Air Force Base in Enid. Mrs. Deeds was a member of the No. 1 Oklahoma Polka Club. She served as vice president and on the board of directors. She was a member of the Garber Christian Church.
Mrs. Deeds is survived by her husband of the home; two sons, Rick and Randy, both of Garber; her stepfather, Frank Sebranek; three sisters, Mrs. Nick Jones of Augusta, Kansas, Mrs. Bob Conners of Ponca City and Mrs. Harold Pirkl of Garber, and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Oklahoma Division, with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.

Funeral service for Henry “Hank” Lee Deeds, 93, of Enid, will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel with Harold Ranson officiating. Burial will follow in Garber Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
Henry was born on January 6, 1919 to Walter and Josie (Sebranek) Deeds in Garber, and passed from this life on Saturday, August 11, 2012 on the farm north of Garber.
Henry was raised on a farm north of Garber. He attended Home Valley School north of Garber. He was part of the CC camp from the age of 18 until he joined the U.S. Army in 1939, at the age of 20. Henry was a Pearl Harbor survivor in the 27th Infantry Company E attached to the 25th Division, Wolf Hounds now known as the Tropic Lighting Division. 368 men left Honolulu, Hawaii; he was 1 of 7 that returned. He served in the pacific campaign the battle of pearl harbor, Guadal Canal, New Guinea, New Britain, New Caledonia, New Georgia. Henry returned home in 1944, and worked at Vance Air Force Base where he met Helen Sebranek. They married July 12, 1945, and began their life farming north of Garber. They had two sons Randy Rudy, and Rick Lee. He lost his wife Helen on August 5, 1987. He later married Lucille Rogers on October 3, 1998 in Breckinridge, Ok, and they resided in Enid.
Henry was a member of the Garber Christian Church, the Moose Lodge, VFW. He was a member of the Imperial Domain of the Golden Dragon, receiving membership by crossing below the equator in 1942. He enjoyed spending time with family, polka dancing, playing pitch on Thursday, and going to Eichens Bar in Okarche.
Henry is survived by his wife Lucille of the home; son Randy Deeds and wife Barbara of Garber; daughter in law Stella Deeds of Garber; sister Mary Lou Pennington of Taylor, TX; step son Merle Rogers and wife Rita of Cassville, MO; step daughters Lanette Gibson of Norman, and Cindy Smith and husband Larry of Bixby; grandchildren Hank Deeds and wife Lacey, Michael Deeds and wife Mindy all of Garber, Candy Evans and husband Clint of Billings; step grandchildren Brian Smith of Joplin, MO, Bradley Smith and wife Morgan of Tulsa, Robin Edie and husband Jimmie of Fayetteville, AR, Peter Rogers of Ash Grove, MO, and Leah Gibson of Erlanger, KY; 7 great grandchildren; and 2 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, son Ricky L, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 step grandson.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Garber Fire Department.
