Garber – Richard W. Anderson, 71, died Friday in an Enid hospital.

Funeral will be Tuesday at 2 PM in the Garber Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Altfilish officiating. Burial will be in the Garber Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Christian Church elevator fund.

Masonic Rosecroix rites will be Monday, 7:30 PM, in the Garber Christian Church. The public is invited.

He was born February 5, 1906 near Mt. Hope, Kansas. He moved with his parents to a farm Northwest of Hunter where he was reared. He was graduated from Hunter High School and in 1932 from Phillips University, Enid.

He married Mildred Miles in Garber on August 6, 1933. They establish their home in Hunter, moving to Garber in 1935. They have owned and operated the Anderson Funeral Home in Hunter, Garber and Billings for 44 years.

He was past Pres. of the Garber and Billings Rotary Clubs, and the Garber Lions Club. He was a member of the Garber Masonic Lodge, was a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Akdar Shrine and First Christian Church. He also served several years on the Metropolitan Planning Board.

He and Mrs. Anderson were 1977 recipients of the Garber Distinguished Citizens Award.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Anderson; and a brother, Loyd A. Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred of the home; two sons, Donald E. And Robert E., both of Enid; four sisters, Mrs. Annabelle Griggs, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Evelyn Smith and Mrs. Rosemond Jordan, both of Hunter; and Mrs. Printice (Vera) Gazaway, Juneau, Alaska; and five grandchildren.
