James Drake “Jim” Rives, 78, of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday October 20, 2016, of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday October 24 at the First United Methodist Church of Enid, Oklahoma at 400 W. Randolph Ave. Reverend Susan Southall will officiate. His cremains will be placed in the columbarium at the First United Methodist Church at a later date. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Jim was born in Woodward, Oklahoma on January 3, 1938. He graduated from Woodward High School. Later in adulthood, he returned to school to receive a bachelor’s degree from Southern Nazarene University.
Jim was married to Ardis Tuttle on August 19, 1961; they were married 55 years Jim retired as a District Manager for Oklahoma Gas & Electric Company after 32 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, reading, and studying religion. He was also actively involved in volunteering for the First United Methodist Church, Habitat for Humanity, and Community Development Support Association (CDSA).
Jim is survived by his wife, Ardis, his sons, Mark and Chuck, his granddaughter, Hilary, great-granddaughter, Lexi, his brother, Bob, and other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association (Alz.org) or the First United Methodist Church of Enid, Oklahoma with Brown-Cummings serving as custodial of funds.
