ENID — The family of Floy A. Vance, 84, mourns her passing on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009. Her funeral will be 10 a.m Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, in the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Susan Southall will officiate. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Floy was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Enid to LeRoy and Beulah (Wells) Craig.
She was a 1942 graduate of Enid High School and graduated from Enid Business College in May 1944. She and Donald R. Vance were married in Enid on Aug. 19, 1943. She worked as an elementary school secretary at Cleveland and Monroe Elementary schools, retiring after 23 years in May of 1986. She was also a volunteer at Humphrey Heritage Village and at Integris Bass Baptist Medical Center. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Enid, the Vernon Woman’s Extension Club and the United Methodist Women, and had resided at The Commons for several years.
Floy is survived by her sons, Larry J. Vance, Wichita, KS, and Craig E. Vance, Lahoma; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Eldon J. Craig, Enid.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. and infant son, Donald Jr., her parents and one brother.
Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Enid Public Schools Foundation through the funeral home.
