Dorothy "Marlene" Hume Stewart, 87, Ponca City, passed away January 3, 2019.

She was born February 25, 1931, in Enid, the only daughter of David Shelton Hume and Fletta Colson Hume. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthews Episcopal Church.

She was a 1949 graduate of Enid High School and senior captain bugler of Enid's all-girl Legionette Drum and Bugle Corp. She played taps at the graveside services for fallen soldiers.

She married Harland G. Stewart of Garber in 1951, and they moved to Ponca City in 1954. She was a longtime communicant of Grace Episcopal Church.

She was employed at the Ponca City Library for ten years (1971-1981) as the Ponca City assistant librarian and the first genealogy librarian. She was a charter member of the Pioneer Genealogical Society.

She is survived by children Karen Stewart, Laurie Waldorf (Chris), and Mike Stewart (Barbara); four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Betty Hume and Noma Lou Hume.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harland, her parents, and brothers David Ellsworth Hume, Ret. Col. Robert Franklin Hume, and brother John Coleman Hume.

Graveside service at the Enid Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Dr. John Toles of St. Matthews Episcopal Church, is 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2019, at Enid Cemetery, 212 West Willow Road, Enid.
