Funeral services for Arthur F. Rooks, 64, 421 W. Spruce, who died Wednesday at his home, will be Friday, 2 PM, in Henninger – Allen Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Robert Roffman, Vance Air Base, officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be in Enid Cemetery.
Born in Uncas, January 13, 1904, Rooks graduated from Kaw High school in 1922. He enlisted in the Army in 1924, served four years in Hawaii and returned to live in Spokane, Washington. In 1941 he joined the Army Air Corps and served with the 44th Bomber Group in England until 1945. Following World War I I, he was stationed with occupation forces in Germany until 1948. He retired in 1956, after two years of duty with the Strategic Air Command in England.
He was employed at Tinker Air Base before coming to work at the YMCA in Enid in 1960.
A member of the Methodist church and the American Legion, Rooks is survived by his widow, Jean, and two sons, Peter and John, of the home; an aunt, Mrs. Lewis Batcher, Uncas, and an uncle, Jack Ross, California.
