ENID — The funeral services for Mrs. Nadine Shaw Price, wife of Alvin A. Price, will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at 10 a.m. in the St. Matthew's Episcopal Church with Father Steve Samples officiating. Burial will follow at Enid Cemetery . A visitation will be held Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Services are under direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Mrs. Price was born in Enid, Oklahoma, on February 5, 1930, to Clifford Shaw and Cora (Wadlow) Shaw Coffman. In 1947, Nadine married Jim Shepherd. The couple had four children. In 1960, Nadine and Stan Harris were married, adding Stan's two children to her family. Mrs. Price died on Friday, February 4th, one day before her 81st birthday.
Nadine made her home and raised her children in Enid. During the years 1969 to 1984, she was employed by the Enid Board of Education as a school secretary, working at Adams, Eisenhower, and Cleveland grade schools.
In 1984, Nadine and Alvin Price were married at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Enid. They soon moved to Midland, Texas, but eventually returned to Oklahoma, living in Oklahoma City, where Nadine could often be found on the Surrey Hills Golf Course. By the late-1980's, Nadine and Al had established a home in Artesia, New Mexico. Nadine owned and operated "The Gift Box," a turquoise boutique, for five years in Artesia. She was the director of the Artesia Retired Senior Volunteer Program for six years. Nadine was also active at St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the Artesia Country Club, where she liked to play golf.
In 2001, Nadine and Al returned to Enid. She was a member of the Altar Guild at St. Matthew's Church, until declining health kept her from participating. In 2010, Nadine moved to the Commons Nursing Facility.
Nadine is survived by her husband, Alvin Price of Enid; her sister, Melba Brickman of Enid; her identical twin sister, Arlene Clark of Oklahoma City; her children, Jim Shepherd of Naples, Florida, Connie (Steven) Attard of Temperance, Michigan and Rick (Rose Mary) Shepherd and Doug Harris, both of Enid; stepdaughters, Debbie Faulk of Enid, Marsha (Joe Max) Edmiston of Texas, Rene'e (Stan) McReynolds of Colorado, Gina (Mark) Holmes of Wakita and Tricia Ekberg of Pond Creek; 20 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; her brother-in-law, Casey Brickman ; her stepdaughter, Sandi (Harris) Long; and stepson, David Harris.
Memorials may be made to the St. Matthew's Episcopal Church or the church of the donor's choosing with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
