The funeral for Ophelia Quinette “LuLu” Owens, 50, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at New Light Baptist Church. Sammy Gaines Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Enid Cemetery. Arrangements are by Russworm Funeral Home, Enid.

She was born May 30, 1957, in Enid to Ge-neva Maria Owens and Preston Toombs and died Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at her home in Enid.

She moved to California in 1971 and graduated from Manual Arts High School, Los Angeles, June 14, 1974. She worked as a research assistant for NAPP Drug Symposium and for the former Robert M. Greer Center as an HS-II for six years before she retired. She returned to Enid in 1979, where she lived until her death.

She married the Rev. Sammy Gaines Sr. in 1984.

Surviving are one son, Sammy Ray Gaines Jr. of Enid; daughters, Shanithia Neal of Inglewood, Calif., and Latasha Gaines of Enid; her mother, Geneva Marie Owens; sisters, Angela Owens and Yolundrus Owens, both of Enid; brothers, Adrail Owens of Enid and Craig Owens of Ardmore.

She was preceded in death by her father, one brother and a daughter.
