Former Enid resident Eleanor Porter Nutt, 89, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, in Wichita Falls, TX. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at the Anderson - Burris Funeral Home Chapel. Family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home .

Mrs. Nutt was born July 27, 1919, in Hugo, Colorado to Hugh and Adalia Porter. When Mrs. Nutt was two years old, the family moved to Enid. She graduated from Enid High School.

Mrs. Nutt met her beloved husband of 61 years, Donald Everett Nutt, on a blind date when they were 21 years old. Mr. Nutt's career as a store and district manager for the J.C. Penney Co. and the J. M. McDonald Co. resulted in moves to Lawton and Shawnee, OK; Clovis, NM; Lamesa, TX; and Denver, CO. Upon his retirement, they returned to their original home of Enid. In 1999, the couple moved to Wichita Falls, TX where their daughter Susan Chase and her husband, Tim make their home . They were members of First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Nutt was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing bridge, and traveling with her husband. But her greatest pleasure came from simply spending time with her family, who loved her dearly. Her bright smile and sweet nature will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Preceding Mrs. Nutt in death include her husband who died April 4, 2002, her parents, their son David Bruce Nutt, and her sister, Thelma Buhalts. She is survived by their three daughters and sons-in-law: Peggy and Maurice Davis of Austin, TX; Susan and Tim Chase of Wichita Falls, TX; and Nancy and Scott Jensen of Fowler, CO. She is also survived by six grandchildren, their spouses, and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Harriet Sprowls of Oklahoma City; her cousin and her husband Nita Jo and Calvin Brown of Oklahoma City; and numerous nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation to Hospice of Wichita Falls, P.O. Box 4804, Wichita Falls, TX 76308 or The Alzheimer's Association.
