Valeta Mae Montgomery (Chodrick) died at home with her daughter in North Carolina on October 1, 2020. She was 92. She is young again in her forever home with her savior.
Valeta was born January 12, 1928, in Camargo, Oklahoma, to her parents Everett Dent Chodrick and Edith Chodrick. Valeta was an Enid High School graduate.
Valeta loved cooking for and spending time with her family and friends. She frequently carried food to the dancing group who met Wednesday evenings at the Elks club and to the Lifelong Learning Institute of Enid classes she frequented. Valeta was a red hatter and volunteered at St. Mary's hospital. Mom was a dedicated member of Central Enid Christian Church. Mom loved to dance. She was a loving, loyal mother and friend to all. Mom will always be remembered having a beautiful smile.
Valeta is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Peggy Dains, granddaughter, Shawna Rucks, granddaughter, Delilah Dains, grandson and granddaughter-in-law Gary and Tracy Dains; stepson, Bill Montgomery; daughter, Reba Gilchrist, granddaughter, Genna Gilchrist; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Susan Montgomery, grandson, James Montgomery; granddaughter, Amanda Montgomery; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, A. P. (Monty); stepson, John Montgomery, her brothers, Robert Chodrick, Ressie Chodrick and Vernon Chodrick.
Valeta was buried in a private ceremony at Enid Cemetery, November 2020. A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 27, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Central Enid Christian Church, 1111 W. Broadway, Enid, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to KLOVE Christian radio station by calling 1-800-525-5683, option #2. Tell KLOVE Reba Gilchrist set up an account in Valeta Montgomery's name to receive donations in her memory.
