Services for Mrs. Oscar "Winnie" J. Maxey, 79, who died in a local hospital Monday following an extended illness, will be held at 2 PM Thursday in the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clifford D. Lindsey and Rev. Truman Maxey officiating. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery.

She will be buried beside her husband who died in June 1962.

Mrs. Maxey was one of Oklahoma's true pioneers, having come to Oklahoma in 1895 from the Stafford, Kansas community. She moved to the Asbury community some 6 miles northeast of Enid where she lived until 1949 when she moved to Enid.

She was a member of Pleasant Vale Community Church and an honorary member of the Texia Club.

Friends and neighbors who wish to do so may make contributions to the Oklahoma Medical Research, Heart Division. The funeral home will act as custodian of this fund.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Haskell (Stella) Hedges, Mrs. John (Ruth) Hutcheson, both of Enid, Mrs. Kenneth (Myrtle) Whitehead, Nash; two brothers, F. C. Shaklee, P. H. Shaklee, both of Enid; one sister, Mrs. Albert (Nellie) Maxey, Enid; 13 grandchildren and 29 great – grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
