Funeral services for Walter L. Maxey, 84, 714 N. Davis, will be Wednesday, 2 PM in the First Baptist Church with Dr. M. F. Ewton and Rev. T. P. Haskins officiating. Burial will be in Enid Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.

Maxey died June 15 in an Enid hospital following an illness of several months.

He was born near Soldier in Jackson County, Kansas, February 17, 1884. He moved with his parents to a farm near El Reno in 1902 and on December 2, 1906 he was married to Erma Estella Myers. They lived on a farm near El Reno until 1913 when they moved to a farm northeast of Enid where they lived until 1943 when they moved into Enid.

In December 1967, the Maxeys celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School class.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Bass Memorial Baptist Hospital Building Fund in his memory.

Maxey is survived by his widow of the home; four sons, Virgil, Enid; Gaylord, Salina, Kansas, Cecil, Grand Prairie, Texas, and Hillis, Fullerton, California; four daughters, Mrs. W. S. (Jessie) Morris, Enid, Mrs. John J. (Bernice) Becker, Salina, Mrs. J. S. (Odessa) Vogt, Enid, and Hilda Holt; four brothers, Edward and John, Yukon, Joe, Cody, Wyoming, and Albert, Enid; one sister, Mrs. Ollie (Myrtle) Radcliff, Yukon; 17 grandchildren; 29 great – grandchildren, three step – grandchildren; 15 – step – great grandchildren.

Seven brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
